2025 Nonprofit Funding Allocations!
On February 18th, the Shawano Area United Way Board of Directors met to vote on funding allocations for this year's nonprofit organizations. We received 19 requests for a total of just under $70,000. With our campaign season coming in under what we had hoped, we had around $15,000 of funds to distribute. Because of this, the Board was very judicious about its process and decided to give a larger amount to a smaller number of organizations compared to previous years. Our process involved looking at the stated objective of each program/organization, comparing it to our stated mission as an organization, and then having verbal discussion prior to voting on the complete allocation amounts.
Here are the recipients of this year's funds:
- Bridge the Gap, Inc. for support of their upcoming fundraiser event on April 12th
- Family Services of Northeast Wisconsin to support their Welcome Baby program and the Shawano Area Early Childhood Partnership's Giving Closet for Shawano County families in need
- Lutheran Counseling and Family Services of Wisconsin to help subsidize payments for clients in Shawano County who would otherwise be unable to afford therapy
- The Shawano Area Food Center to help support their operations as they continue to be a hub for Shawano Area food pantries
- SAM25 to help offset growing costs in their programming budget
- The Shawano Literacy Council as they continue to expand their services and gain more tutors for their ESL programs
- The F.R.E.S.H. Project to support their $5 Token Program providing fresh produce from the Shawano Farmer's Market to low-income households
We are extremely proud of not only these organizations, but all of the nonprofits in the Shawano Area that we work with! Thank you to everyone who contributed to this year's campaign, to the nonprofits for the work they continue to do, and to our United Way Board of Directors for their work! As we continue to grow our organization, we look forward to a better campaign this year and the opportunity to support more nonprofits!
